Aug. 13 law student orientation to emphasize ethics, professionalism Mississippi Supreme Court Chief Justice Bill Waller Jr. will emphasize ethics and professionalism in his Aug. 13 address to law students entering Mississippi College School of Law. Chief Justice Waller, MCSOL Dean Wendy Scott and Mississippi Bar President Gene Harlow of Laurel will speak at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 13 on the second floor of the B. C. Rogers Student Center on the Mississippi College campus in Clinton. A reception for judges and attorneys participating in the professionalism program will start at 9:15 a.m. in the Board Room. Starting at 10:15 a.m., judges and lawyers from across the state will serve as facilitators for small group discussions with students. The breakout sessions examine hypothetical ethical dilemmas which lawyers may face. A luncheon for students, judges, lawyers and faculty is set for noon to 1 p.m. First-year law students at the University of Mississippi School of Law will participate in the professionalism program at the Robert C. Khayat Law Center on Aug. 21. Dean Richard Gershon will welcome students at 9:30 a.m. Chief Justice Waller will deliver the keynote address at 9:50 a.m. Breakout sessions with students, attorneys and judges will begin at 10:40 a.m. Students will have more opportunities to talk to judges and attorneys during a luncheon at noon. The annual James O. Dukes Law School Professionalism Program is sponsored by the Mississippi Bar as part of orientation for students entering law school. The program is named in honor of its founder, the late James O. Dukes of Gulfport, a former Mississippi Bar president. #### |
